Match Reports 2011/12
Result Lakelands 3 - 1 Tolka Rovers
Date 11th September 2011
Venue St John of Gods
Another great performance against a very strong Tolka Rovers team. The boys played with the hill and wind in the 1st half and struggled to get to grips with their opponents who defended very well. Conor Sullivan was captain for the day and Conor opened the scoring late in the half with a fine curling finish away from the excellent Tolka keeper into the corner. Colm and Owen had very little to do in goals but Owen made a great save to ensure we went in at half time 1 nil up. Mark Murphy and Cian O’Cathasaigh were excellent at the back. After a few motivational words from Maurice at half time the boys started the 2nd half with lots of energy and each of the lads tackled and chased every ball. The 2 Conor’s, Evan and Adam were excellent in midfield. Colm and Matthew tackled from the front and combined to test their keeper on a number of occasions. After one such move a breaking ball fell to Mark Murphy and he capped a man of the match performance to drive home the 2nd goal to give the lads some breathing space. Conor Crumlish made it 3 soon after with a fine looping shot over the keeper.
Tolka Rovers keep the pressure on the boys and deep in injury time scored a penalty to finish the game 3 -1.
Another fine performance from Lakelands.
Result Lakelands 5 - 3 St Kevins Boys
Date 4th September 2011
Venue St John of Gods
A great return for the boys with all 10 on the panel playing their part in a great team performance. We had two new players, Conor and Cian and both boys fitted in very well and have a bright future in the club. Lakelands started the game at a very high tempo and really put St Kevins under a lot of pressure. Attack after attack soon paid dividends with Evan scoring 2 goals in the first half, with Colm and Owen getting one each. Mark Murphy the captain for the day keep things tight at the back and the score at half time was 4 -1.
The second half was a lot different and the boys dropped their tempo and let St Kevins back into the game. They soon scored to get back into the game. Mark scored our fifth to settle the game and the lads defended well but conceded another one to finish 5-3.
A great start to the league and the lads played as a team, sored some great team goals and defended well in the end.
